Work package 0: Architecture

The objective of the architecture workpackage is to identify the overall WSN network architecture and to provide a threat analysis derived from the scenario space and such a WSN architecture. It deals with:

  • Requirement Specification
  •   Carefully analysing and understanding the security requirements, as well as the network and energy-efficiency requirements are mandatory pre-requisites for the subsequently described technical core workpackages will identify security requirements and energy requirements for the specific WSN applications.

  • Architecture Specification
  •   The architecture and device specification will go in line with the scenario definition. This task provides a WSN architecture and a reference device description.

  • Threat analysis and attacker model
  •   Starting from an extended Dolev-Yao threat model and considering the device architecture and the network architecture we will provide a careful threat analysis. This takes into account the various attacker models which may vary for the different WSN scenarios. Also, the specific WSN traffic patterns will be considered for the treat analysis and the attacker model.

  • Scenario definition
  •   The scenarios agriculture, road service and homeland security serve as a basis to identify a subset of reference WSN scenarios which we will consider more deeply within the project. A major metric for the final scenario choice and definition will be their relevance to cover a broad spectrum of security and reliability aspects of the envisioned modular WSN security toolbox.
